The game is begun by shuffling the deck and dealing a row of
four cards, forming the tableau.
The object of the game is to remove pairs of cards that add up
to 13. A king is a 13 and can be removed by itself. The others
are moved off in combination of two cards: Q-A, J-2, 10-3, 9-4,
8-5, and 7-6. These are the valid combinations:
┌────┐ ┌────┐ ┌────┐ ┌────┐ ┌────┐ ┌────┐ ┌────┐
│K │ │Q │ │J │ │10 │ │9 │ │8 │ │7 │

│ A│ │ 2│ │ 3│ │ 4│ │ 5│ │ 6│
└────┘ └────┘ └────┘ └────┘ └────┘ └────┘
When no more moves are possible, click on the deck to deal four
more cards to the tableau. Only the top card of each pile is
available for play (unless "easy mode" is enabled -- see the
description under "Options Menu" below).
When a space is created by removing all of the cards in a pile,
the top of another pile may be moved into the empty space. At
no time may you move cards from one pile to another.
Continue removing cards and dealing rows of four until the deck
is empty. If you manage to remove all the cards from the
tableau, you win! If the deck is depleted, and no more moves
are possible, you lose.
┌───────────╖

╘═══════════╝ that this allows for some "creative" gameplay
(some would label it "cheating" <G>).

Options Menu
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Sound - Select whether you want the sound disabled (no sound at
all), or whether you want to use the PC Speaker or
Digital Sound. If you do not have a sound board, the
latter option will not be available.
Statistics - This option allows you to select how and when you
see the "statistics" dialog.
Easy Mode - "Easy mode" selects whether or not you are allowed
to select stacked cards. For example, if a 6 was
overlapping a 7, easy mode will allow you to select
the 6, and then select the 7 beneath it.
Move Alert - If "move alert" is enabled, the game will let you
know if any scoring moves are possible.
Background Color & Border Color - Click on the arrows to adjust
the game's colors to your
liking.
Card Back - Click on the card back to bring up another menu
that lets you select a new back.
Player Selection Menu
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
You can invoke the player selection menu by clicking on the
the player's name on the main screen. You can also change
players quickly by clicking on the "<" and ">" buttons to change
the the previous or next player. If only one player is defined,
these buttons will be hidden.
The game will keep track of up to ten players, each of which has
his or her own statistics and preferences.
This menu will come up automatically when you first start the
program if you have more than one player defined.
Statistics
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
You can view your statistics by clicking on the "Statistics ..."
button on the main screen. This will bring up a dialog box
showing both your overall and "session" statistics. The session
stats reflect your performance during the games you've played
since you started up the program or changed players.
The overall statistics include the number of games played, the
number of games won (and percent won), and average score, and
"cards removed vs. cards played" (expressed as a percentage.
The session statistics include games played, games won, and
"change in score", which tells you how you've affected your
overall average score during the current session.
Finally, the "Clear Stats ..." button will allow you to clear
all of your statistics to zero.
